Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox take Consolation Title
|
The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox took the Consolation Title at the Sault High School Tournament in Sault, Michigan this past weekend.
The Black Sox lost the opening game of the Tournament to Petoskey High School by the score of 4-0.
Starter Richard Lang took the loss, allowing three hits, 0 earned runs, two walks while striking out six batters.
Brandon Hansen lead the Black Sox offence with two singles in the lost.
In the Consolation Game, the Black Sox beat Pellston High School 7-4.
Collin McAuley recorded the win on the mound for the Black Sox. Richard Lang came on in relief to get the save.
Ben Elliott lead the offence with three singles.
Scott Thornton also had two singles in the victory.
Next Action for the Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox is this Saturday when they take part in the Rudyard High School Tournament in Rudyard, Michigan.

The Soo Select Baseball Association is proud to annouce a new partnership with Talk Radio 1400 AM, for the 2008 Baseball Season.
Starting Saturday May 10, 2008 at 9 AM, Cambrian Mazda Black Sox baseball games will be broadcast on 1400 AM by Talk Radio. The Black Sox travel to Rudyard for a one day High School Tournament and Talk Radio will be there to bring you all the Black Sox action.

Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox Sweep Cheboygan Chiefs

The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox opened their 2008 Season this past weekend on a winning note going undefeated against the Cheboygan Chiefs. The team had a strong start with all players contributing in back to back double headers on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend featured solid defence, good hitting and good efforts on the mound. Highlighted by Scott Thornton's 4 2/3 innings of relief pitching striking out 9 batters along the way, and Adam Devon's 7 RBI's at the plate. The defence also turned 4 double plays over the weekend. In the Season opener Collin McAuley picked up the win on the mound, while chipping in with a single. The Offense was lead by Jeb Pallot with a double and 3 RBI's. Jordan Pine had 2 RBI's and a single. Kris Kerr, Brandon Hansen, Travis Burmaster and Digger Kane all found key singles during the 12 - 4 victory. In game two Saturday; Kris Kerr pitched a strong game going 5 2/3 innings of one hit ball and 6 strikeouts. Kris had a no hitter going into the 6th Inning. Adam Devon came on in relief to preserve the 7-2 win for the Black Sox. Scott Thornton and Kris Kerr had 2 singles each in the win. Sunday morning saw another strong offensive output and the Black Sox came away with a 14 - 5 victory. Jeb Pallot picked up his first Bantam victory on the mound, and the offense was lead by Brandon Hansen with a single, triple and 3 RBI's. Lucas Turpin chipped in with 2 singles and 2 RBI's. The weekend was wrapped up a lopsided 18-0 win, in which the offense came alive and the game was called after three innings. The offense was lead by Travis Burmaster with 3 singles and 3 RBI's, Scott Thornton had 3 singles and 2 RBI's, Digger Kane 2 singles and 3 RBI's and Collin McAuley contributed 2 singles toward the win. Adam Devon pitched the shut out for the Black Sox. Next action for the 341 Elks Black Sox with be this Saturday when they compete in the Sault High Baseball Tournament. The four team tournament will run all day Saturday in the Soo, Michigan. The local team will play their first games at Sinclair Yards this season when the Cheboygan Chiefs travel north and return the favour for a four game weekend, May 24 & 25. |
