Bantam Sox Take Three Of Four From Thunder Bay

The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox traveled to Thunder Bay this past weekend taking three of four games from Thunder Bay Lakers.
In the first game on Friday, the Sox held a 7-5 lead heading into the last inning only to end up losing 8-7. Scott Morphet started on the mound, going five innings. Coty Anderson took the loss in relief. Coty Anderson had a single and a triple with four RBI’s in the loss. Andrew Caicco had two singles as well.
Saturday morning, the Sox bounced back with a 9-2 victory. Cody Yardanoff threw a complete game two hitter, 1 walk, 12 strikeout performance. Yardanoff helped his cause at the plate by pacing three singles in the win. Scott Morphet and Andrew Caicco each had two singles as well.
The Bantam Sox won the third game of the series 3-2. Travis Quevillon picked up the win on the mound throwing 6 innings, allowing four hits, 1 walk and four strikeouts. Adam Bouillion had a double, while Matt Stemp and Dana Lesage each had a single in the win.
In the finale, the Sox scored early and never looked back as they rolled to a 10-1 victory. Coty Anderson threw a complete game one hitter, while striking out 12 batters. Andrew Caicco had a single, double and triple in the win. Coty Anderson had a single and a double. Adam Bouillon, Dana Lesage and Matt Stemp each had two hits in the victory.
Next action for the Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox will be next weekend as they take part in the Saginaw, MI Tournament.

Blue Devils Rally to Down Bantam Black Sox
|
The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox built a 8-2 lead on Tuesday, but couldn't hold on as the Sault High School Blue Devils rallied to post a 9-8 victory at Laucks Field.
While up 8-2 with one out in the 4th inning, the wheels fell off as the Bantam Sox committed four errors leading to six unearned runs to tie the game at 8 a piece. Sault High took the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning with a lead off triple, then a sac fly to take a 9-8 lead and they never looked back.
Scott Morphet had a double. Matt Goodall, Andrew Caicco and Trevor Sayers each had singles in the loss.
The Bantam Sox committed 6 errors in the game which led to 8 unearned runs.
Next action for the Elks Bantam Black Sox is this Saturday when they travel to Escanaba for a double header against the Bears. Game time is at 12:00 PM. |

Bantam Sox take three of four from Traverse City
|
After five pre-season exhibition games, the Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox opened up their regular season over the weekend by taking three of four from the Traverse City Titans.
In the first game on Friday, it was a pitching duel, but in the end the Sox came out on top 2-0.
Coty Anderson was solid on the mound throwing 4 2/3 innings, giving up two hits with nine K’s. Tyler Marshall came on to pitch the final out to receive the save. Trevor Sayers had a double with Travis Quevillon and Tyler Marshall also had singles in the win.
In the nightcap, the bats woke up for the Sox as they pounded out 13 hits to cruise to a 12-4 victory. Scott Morphet lead the attack with two doubles and a homerun along with five RBI’s in the win. Andrew Caicco and Tyler Marshall each had a single and a double. Travis Quevillon and Trevor Sayers each had a pair of singles. Scott Morphet picked up the win.
On Saturday, during the third game of the weekend, the Bantam Sox held a 7-4 lead going into the last inning only to end up losing 8-7. Coty Anderson had two doubles with three stolen bases. Adam Bouillion had a double with two stolen bases in the loss.
The Bantam Sox bounced back in the second game of the day by posting a 12-6 victory. Travis Quevillon pitched five innings for the win. Andrew Caicco lead the attack with three singles and a homerun along with 4 RBI’s in the win. Coty Anderson also had three singles with 3 RBI’s in the victory.
Next action for the Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox will be this Tuesday in Soo, Michigan against Sault High. Game time is 5:00 PM.
