2012 BANTAM BLACK SOX TRYOUTS

The Bantam Black Sox are announcing tryout dates for this coming 2012 Season.
All players born in 1997 and 1998 who are interested in trying out this coming season are encouraged to attend the following tryouts:

Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox Off To a Good Start
|
The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox opened their season with winning all four games played over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Sox won the Rudyard Invitational Tournament in Rudyard, Michigan. The Black Sox defeated the host Rudyard Bulldogs 11-10 in the championship game. Eric Thornton was the winning pitcher. Thornton came in relief in the 5th inning in a tied game to shut down the Bulldogs for two innings. Thornton recorded five strikeouts in his two innings of work. Travis Quevillon came in to pitch the last inning to record the save.
Skyler Kroll started on the mound for the Sox, pitched the first four innings, allowing six hits, walking four while striking out five. Offensively, Brandon Dewar had three singles for the Black Sox. Beau Nolan had a single and a double, while Eric Thornton had two singles with 2 RBIs.
The Black Sox defeated the Sault High Blue Devils 12-6 in their opening game of the tournament. Winning pitcher was Cody Yardanoff. Yardanoff pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out eight. Brandon Dewar, Colton Read and Connor Henderson all had singles in the win.
On Sunday, the Sox headed to Newberry, Michigan for a double header. The Black Sox won both games by scores of 13-5 and 13-2.
In Game One, Anthony Biocchi pitched a complete game, allowing one ER, five hits while striking out eight for the win.
Biocchi and Brandon Dewar each had two singles. Cody Yardanoff had a double.
In Game two, the Black Sox completed the sweep from the host Newberry. Winning pitcher Colton Read, who pitched the first four innings, allowed one ER, three hits, while striking out five.
Eric Thornton had a single and a homerun along with three RBIs in the win.
Jamis McMaster had two singles with three runs scored. Beau Nolan had two singles. Colton Read also had a double.
Next action for the Elks 341 Black Sox is this Saturday as they travel to Gaylord for a double header against the Gaylord Blue Devils.

Bantam Sox Take Three Of Four From Thunder Bay
|
The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox traveled to Thunder Bay this past weekend taking three of four games from Thunder Bay Lakers.
In the first game on Friday, the Sox held a 7-5 lead heading into the last inning only to end up losing 8-7. Scott Morphet started on the mound, going five innings. Coty Anderson took the loss in relief. Coty Anderson had a single and a triple with four RBI’s in the loss. Andrew Caicco had two singles as well.
Saturday morning, the Sox bounced back with a 9-2 victory. Cody Yardanoff threw a complete game two hitter, 1 walk, 12 strikeout performance. Yardanoff helped his cause at the plate by pacing three singles in the win. Scott Morphet and Andrew Caicco each had two singles as well.
The Bantam Sox won the third game of the series 3-2. Travis Quevillon picked up the win on the mound throwing 6 innings, allowing four hits, 1 walk and four strikeouts. Adam Bouillion had a double, while Matt Stemp and Dana Lesage each had a single in the win.
In the finale, the Sox scored early and never looked back as they rolled to a 10-1 victory. Coty Anderson threw a complete game one hitter, while striking out 12 batters. Andrew Caicco had a single, double and triple in the win. Coty Anderson had a single and a double. Adam Bouillon, Dana Lesage and Matt Stemp each had two hits in the victory.
Next action for the Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox will be next weekend as they take part in the Saginaw, MI Tournament.
