T-Ball Update
May 17 2013
Coaches and rosters are being finalized this weekend. Coaches will be meeting on Tuesday May 21st and will be calling their rosters at the end of the week.
If players do not receive a call, please come to the field Monday May 27th: Intro to T-Ball from 6-7pm and T-Ball from 7-8pm, both on the A Field.

Bantam Evaluation
May 17 2013
Despite the lack of coaches, a bantam evaluation will take place Tuesday May 21 on “G” field at 6:30 pm. CHECK WEBSITE FOR MAKE UP DATE IF RAINED OUT.
Team will be selected based upon that evaluation and the season will begin once volunteer coaches are found.

Mosquito and Peewee divisions

The Mosquito and Peewee draft is complete. All players will be receiving a call from their respective coach in the next few days. The week of May 20th will be a practice week, the schedule will be posted by Monday the 20th.

Mosquito Division needs a Coach

The Mosquito division is going with 5 teams this season and as a result we are looking for 1 more coach. If you have a son or daughter in the Mosquito division and would like to help out please contact Brent at 705 297 3342.

There is still Time

We have extended the registration deadline up to the end of next week (May 17th). All divisions still have a few spots open.
Registration forms can be dropped off at the field between the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm. Ben or Cory will be happy to accept your registration and answer any questions you may have.

Midget House League
May 13 2013
Due to lack of sponsorship and low registrations Midget house league will be delayed one week and is expected to start the week of the 27th. Players will be contacted this week to verify uniform sizes.

Bantam Evaluations

Bantam players that have not been contacted will be contacted this week. We need at least 2 coaches for Bantam, please if you have a son or daughter in Bantam please think about coaching a team. Contact Scott at smba_exec@yahoo.ca  if you are interested.

Peewee and Mosquito evaluations

The Peewee evaluations will be held on Wednesday May 15th at 6:00pm to 8:00pm on C-Field.
Please be at the field for 6:00pm, equipment needed for the evaluation will be a glove and jock.
Mosquito players that missed the Friday/Saturday evaluations please come out on Wednesday May 15th at 5:30pm on C-Field. These players will be contacted by phone, if you have not been contacted by Tuesday evening 10:00pm please call Brent at 705 297 3342.

Peewee Mosquito Coaches Needed

Coach's Clinic
May 1 2013
A Level One Coach's Clinic is being held by Baseball Ontario in Sault Ste Marie on Saturday May 18. Start Time is 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Basils Secondary School on St. George's Ave, McNabb St. Cost will be covered by Soo Minor Baseball Association for its members, and will be conducted by Ed Jordan, OBA Course Conductor.
Those wishing to attain certification to coach an OBA team must complete the Initiation Workshop Module on the Baseball Ontario website, (reached on the Coaches Icon), before they can register for the clinic.
Others wishing to take the clinic to enhance their skills need not do so.
Coaches should bring a baseball glove, gym shoes, notepad, & pen to take notes at the Clinic. Laptops may also help.

The Sault Minor Baseball Association is introducing a new Midget house league division for the 2013 baseball season. This division will be for players age 16, 17, 18 and will be played at Sinclair Yards, on Black Dirt road. 
 

SMBA Looking for Volunteers
Soo Minor Baseball is seeking dedicated individuals to fill the convener role for the Mosquito divisions.
The duties of a convener are:

Represent their division at executive meetings, approximately 8 a year.
Co-ordinate their division in the area of :
A)    Rules- distribution, interpretation and enforcement.
B)    Coordinating the scheduling of all games with the help of the executive.
C)    Player evaluation, draft and equipment checks (catching gear, bats and jersey distribution)

T-Ball Website Information

Soo Minor Baseball is excited to announce two T-Ball divisions for the 2013 season!

Intro to T-Ball is directed to players born between January 1, 2008 and June 1, 2009.
Intro to T-Ball division introduces players to the skills required of T-Ball in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. The month of June will be spent on skill development with scrimmages being introduced in July. Skill development sessions will be held once per week for an hour. The season will begin the week of June 3, 2013 and end the week of July 22-26, 2013.

Senior T-Ball is directed to players born between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2007.
The Senior T-Ball division will teach the basic skills and knowledge of baseball to children in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. There will be no scorekeeping. The Senior T-Ball division will be structured and follow rules as setout in S.M.B.A. Rules & Regulations.
Games and practices will be held twice per week for one hour. The season will begin the week of June 3, 2013 and end the week of July 22-26, 2013.
